Terms of use

The rules for using Till & Stack, in plain language.

Last updated: 3 November 2026

DRAFT This document is a draft and is waiting for legal review. It is not in force yet and may change before the app launches. Text in [square brackets] still has to be filled in.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Bit Primitive (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”), registration number [CIPC registration no. — to confirm], for the Till & Stack app and this website. By using the app you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act or any other law that can’t be excluded. If any part of these terms conflicts with those laws, the law wins.

2. What Till & Stack does

  • Stores copies of your loyalty cards on your phone and shows their barcodes so you can use them at the till.
  • Lets you note points balances and set reminders yourself. We don’t connect to retailer systems, and we never log in to your retailer accounts.
  • Optionally backs up and syncs your cards, encrypted, if you create an account.

The card wallet is free. You don’t need an account to use it.

3. Your cards and the retailers

  • Only add cards that you are allowed to use. Each loyalty programme has its own rules, and many say the card is personal and can’t be shared. Those rules still apply when the card is in our app.
  • Whether a till accepts a barcode from a phone screen is up to the retailer. We work hard to show barcodes clearly, but we can’t promise every scanner will read them.
  • Points balances in the app are what you typed in. The retailer’s own records are the official balance.
  • We are not connected to, sponsored by or endorsed by any retailer. Retailer names are trademarks of their owners.

4. Your account

  • You must be 13 or older to use the app, and 18 or older to use Stack.
  • Keep your sign-in and your recovery phrase safe. Your synced cards are end-to-end encrypted, so if you lose your recovery phrase and all your signed-in devices, we can’t recover them.
  • You can delete your account at any time. See how to delete your account.

5. Plus subscription

  • Plus is an optional paid subscription. The price, in rand, and what it includes are shown in the app before you buy. [Plus price and features — to confirm (OPEN_QUESTION Q2)]
  • You pay through Google Play or the App Store, and their billing terms apply. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in the store.
  • Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are handled through the store you bought from, and your legal rights to a refund are not affected.
  • If you had a free trial, you won’t be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.

6. Stack (not available yet)

Stack is an optional cashback and savings feature that is not live yet. If it launches, it will have its own extra terms that you will see and accept before you use it. They will explain clearly:

  • that cashback is only earned on real purchases through partner links, and only once the shop confirms the sale;
  • that confirmation can take a long time (often weeks or months), and that cashback can be cancelled if the order is returned or cancelled;
  • the minimum payout amount, any fees, and whether rewards expire;
  • which licensed partner pays out, and their licence number.

Bit Primitive never holds your crypto. We never hold, convert or send crypto for you. Crypto assets are volatile and you may lose value. Not financial advice. Nothing in the app is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.

7. Fair use

Please don’t misuse the app. For example, don’t try to break into our systems, copy the app to resell it, make fake cashback claims, or use it to break the law. If you do, we may suspend or close your account. We will tell you why, unless the law stops us.

8. Our app and content

The app, its design and this website belong to Bit Primitive (Pty) Ltd. You may use them for your own personal use under these terms. Your card data belongs to you.

9. Changes to the app

We keep improving the app, so features may change. If we plan to stop the service, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your cards. Because your cards are stored on your phone, the wallet keeps working offline even if our servers are unavailable.

10. Responsibility

We provide the app with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses caused by things outside our control, such as a retailer refusing a card, a broken phone, a loyalty programme changing its rules, or you losing your recovery phrase. We do not exclude responsibility where the Consumer Protection Act or other law does not allow it, including for our gross negligence.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you don’t agree with the change, you can stop using the app and delete your account.

12. Law and disputes

South African law applies. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hello@tillandstack.com and we will try to resolve it. You can also use any dispute-resolution route the law gives you, including the National Consumer Commission or a consumer ombud.
